Dolls in Amber Presents... BEARD

Hugh’s latest film made millions, caused countless swoons, and cemented his place as one of Hollywood’s hottest romantic leads - but he’s got a secret that could end his career. Flo wants to write steamy romance novels, but has no time between juggling three jobs. Living the dream. Modeled on beloved rom-coms, and tackling the homophobia still rampant in the supposedly progressive world of showbiz,  Beard is a dramedy exploring love, fear, queerness and the distorting pressure of the public eye.

Together, Micha and KT are Dolls in Amber and Beard is our most ambitious piece yet. It was selected for a rehearsed reading at the Playmill Festival, by the Bush's Open Submissions scheme, and was described as 'skilful...utterly charming and silly... well paced and exciting, like a well-known rom-com' by the National. We are delighted to have been supported by The Arcola, Redbridge Drama Centre, and VTS.
